The Rice Laboratory for Ultracold Physics focuses on the properties of ultracold atoms, molecules, and plasmas, which cuts across many fields of research, including atomic, plasma, and condensed matter physics. Joint projects and weekly laboratory meetings foster a collaborative environment for students and faculty that supports world-class education and research.

A multi-university team lead by Rice has received Phase II funding from the DARPA OLE program. The PI's at Rice are Profs. Han Pu and Randy Hulet. The Rice University press release can be obtained here.
